Parametric Sliding Lid Box with snap latch

Printing is simple and standard settings will work just fine. No support needed. I recommend using .20 layer height, which will slow down the printing of large boxes, but larger layer heights may affect the slide clearance and the snap mechanism.

Customizing

This design is in Fusion 360 (included). You may change many of the parameters to suit your needs. Here's a list of most of them:

Inside Length, Inside Width, Inside Height

The inside dimensions are the net usable.

If you would prefer to base your box on outside dimensions, simply subtract 2 wall widths from the inside dimensions (you will see them in the parameter list).

Inside Smoothing

The radius of the filet used for the inside edges (walls and floor).

You can make this as big as you want.

If you want no smoothing, change the value to 0.01 (zero will give an error).

Wall Thickness

May be 1.5 and larger.

Lid Clearance

Test and adjust as needed. I have provided a small test box that uses 0.15. The most likely values are 0.10 to 0.30.

Flex Snap

The snap locking can be made softer or firmer.

The range is from 1 to 4, with larger values being softer.
