Overview
I really like the theory behind the original handle design, but I had 3 issues that ultimately led me to remix it, and recreate the geometry in a more suitable program (Fusion360), so I figured I'd share the fixes and files.
My first print of the original handle design had a lot of little artifacts around the edges and dovetailed sections. After looking at it closer in Orca Slicer, it seems that the dovetail sections are add-ons, as I can split the STL into objects, and I end up with 4 different items on the plate - the dovetails are 2 separate sections (male & female), added to the split handle.
Another issue was that the original print I did was way too loose a fit. It slid together well beyond the finished position, and therefore required me to glue it together, which I would prefer as an option, rather than a requirement as the file currently is for me.
The last issue I had was that I wanted a larger diameter handle to help create a more solid and larger gripping area, as my hands are starting to have issues with grip strength, and the smaller size of the original bucket handles are what led me to find the original design in the first place.

Given the things I was having issues with, I decided to remix it, and am posting it up for others - hope you find it as useful as I do.
The redesign was done in Fusion, with the dovetail being finished in Tinkercad, as I couldn't suss out how to do a tapered sliding dovetail that would still allow it to print without supports, and no interference for the wire handle on the bucket itself, like the clever method of the original.
The geometry and wire hole part of the design was done in Fusion, and then split in half. The split file was run through Tinkercad, and the "Awquard Trapezoid" shape was utilized to create the tapered sliding dovetail with a depth of 2.3mm for the pin and tail of the dovetail.
When running the original design file through Tinkercad, the artifacts REALLY show up, so that's why I went with Fusion for the main shape of the body, to hopefully eliminate any artifacts. It seemed to work on multiple prints of this for me thus far. You can see the artifacting on the side angle shot from Tinkercad - the pink versions are the original, and the gray versions are mine. The other screenshots from Tinkercad show the size differences between the two as well.
If you've read this far, I REALLY recommend painting the seams on the inner hole section, where the wire handle will go. I've included a pic showing where I painted the seams on mine, and this worked out beautifully. This will keep the outer surfaces clean, the wire handle shouldn't be affected at all, no scarf seam or other trickery will be needed, and visually it'll look much nicer. There will be a gap at the sides where the two pieces slide together, but I didn't find the seam to be noticeable when in use.
Speaking of when the pieces slide together - mine stuck with about 3-5mm left before the parts mated up. IF you're wanting to glue these together, I recommend a glue with a bit of open time, and a clamp to squeeze it together onto the handle before the glue has a chance to set up. I've used several different copies of these WITHOUT glue, and while they haven't come apart once I squeezed the handle pieces together, with long-term use, you may need this glue info at that point.
I've included the Fusion file for the main body, in case anyone wants to mess around with some other design that's been rolling around in their head, and a STEP file as well, for those who prefer it.
