Overview

I was trying to print some really, really soft filament (biodegradable plant-vitamin stuff from TimePlast) and had trouble feeding it, so I had to feed from the top. I looked at a lot of other plans for top-feed spool mounts, and didn't really like any of them -- too long to print, too much material, too many parts to assemble, etc. -- so I made my own, and printed it in PLA-CF carbon fiber. It's set up to print in 3 plates, with minimal supports (and mostly easy to remove ones), and requires two 608 bearings (22x7x8 skateboard bearings). The forward stabilizers on each side have a peg that fits very snugly into the main body; it could be glued, but it fits so tightly that I didn't bother. The peg on the forward supports may need to be sanded a little to fit; also, be sure to clear the supports from the little round hole in the corner, because it fits on the peg on top of the printer where the lid normally sits. And the supports in and around the slider that holds the bearing need to be completely cleared before the bearing can slide in.
