Overview
A red bow I saw posted on Reddit like this was super cool but kinda small and plain. I really liked the idea so I decided to go bigger and more ornate. This model uses about 18 grams of filament and took a little under 2 hours to print. The best part is that the center post is a screw for the retention button so no glue or creases required. Regular gift ribbon can be used to tie it to a box or it can be hung as an ornament.
I suggest using:
3 walls
3 solid top/bottom layers
0.2mm first layer
0.1mm layers after that (Petals are 0.4mm thick and this ensures pliability and strength)
10% infill
Per user , “{set} the infill direction set to 0° (from 45°). This time I could fold it without anything breaking.”
Or: Use concentric as the top and bottom surface patterns with rectilinear as the solid infill pattern. This also helps keep the fold rounded.
Update: Some users have reported to me that it will print fine at a 0.2mm layer height. Feel free to experiment with your settings. Every printer is unique and no one knows yours like you do.
