Overview

Hi everyone, this is actually an old project I did back in early 2023. I saw 2501exe's post and wanted to print the same, but unfortunately the IKEA lamp they used was discontinued. This version is based on a hanging globe pendant light which are pretty common, with some under cabinet LED lights in the arms that came with a remote (battery LED's were easier than trying to hide a wire in the arms). I was going to add a fifth LED under the glass globe so that all the coloured lights were on one remote (which is why there is a hole in the bottom model), but it was easier to use a coloured bulb than taking it apart to replace the batteries. This is not a high quality model, it could/should definitely be improved by a professional, however it works and has lasted a few years now so I am happy to share it. Printing (was done on a Kobra Max) I don't remember the exact setting I used, but I think it was only a 30% infill with 4x wall thickness for a good strength/weight ratio. The fire is a single layer on vase mode. The Extra Parts (there might be better versions to use now) Light Fitting = Light Bulb = Remote LEDs = Chain = amazon or DIY store The Build Use Gorilla glue to stick together; the body, bottom, arms and fire holders. Use Gorilla glue to stick the three thin piece in place on the body AFTER the glass globe has been placed inside (I did use superglue instead for these three in case I needed to get the glass ball back out, but I haven't needed to and gorilla glue is stronger). Drill two holes in the metal lid of the light for the thin chain to fit through (see photo). The chain will be taking all of the weight of the light, don't hang it by the electric cable alone. Drill small pilot holes through the top of the crown into the top of the main body (these will be used later to screw the crown to the body and take the weight, see photo) Thread the crown up the wire for the light, then the metal lid for the glass globe with the two holes for the chain, then the light bulb fitting. The crown will sit on top of the metal lid. Install the light fitting, make sure its screwed securely into a beam take the weight of the light. Thread the chain through the metal lid and set the final height you want the light to hang at. Cut the chain to length and then use the screw from the light fitting to attach both ends of the chain (see photo). Test by putting some weight on the metal lid to ensure the chain takes the weight and not the electric cable. Add a thin circle of blu-tack to the top of the metal lid where the crown will sit on top of (this will stop it moving around when you inevitably bang your head on the light walking under it). Have a second person hold the light in place while you feed the lightbulb into the glass globe and then screw the crown to the main body using the pilot holes. The crown holds the weight of the print, which is supported by the metal lid, which is held by the chain, which is supported by the light fitting. Take the excess plastic off of the LEDs (they should fit snugly into the ends of the arms) and then place the fire loose on top, see photos). Video of the Light =
