Update 2023-03-08:

I added a variant with an alternative lanyard eyelet ("eyelet-across"), see picture above.

WARNING:

This is an emergency whistle and not a toy! It's extremely loud which can harm the ears, so please protect your ears and don't use it near other people or animals!

Summary:

This time I was looking for a new emergency whistle and again couldn't find anything that suited my needs. So I made my own, and these are the main benefits:

it is exceptionally loud, you will hardly find anything louder here in this size,

it is very sturdy,

it has an ergonomically shaped flat mouthpiece that ensures a proper lip closure,

it can easily be used hands-free,

it has a double tone that increases audibility,

it can be operated softly or loudly depending on the strength of the blow,

it has a large eyelet suitable for thick straps and even small carabiners,

it is easy and relatively fast to print, only requires 7 grams of filament.

How to print:

Use a line width of 0.4 mm and a layer height of 0.2 mm, 5 top layers and 5 bottom layers. Don't use support!

The whistle requires correct positioning of the Z-seam - it shouldn't be placed in the narrow air passages inside the whistle. The Z-seam should be positioned as shown in the image above (the white dots represent the Z-seam). Use the “Z Seam Alignment: User specified” option in Cura or the "Seam Painting" option in PrusaSlicer to achieve this.

Print slowly to achieve sharp edges.

When using Cura, activate the option “Enable Bridge Settings” with the following addional settings:

Bridge Wall Flow: 100%

Bridge has multiple Layers: Off

Brid Skin Flow: 70%

If you want a multicolor print as in the picture above, change filament at the desired height.

Do you like it?

If you have printed this design and you like it, I would be happy if your make is uploaded.
