DIMPLED EDITION - Internal Dimple Texture This model features a dimpled texture inside the backbore that breaks up the boundary layer of the airflow, adding character and projection to your sound. --- 3C/D CushionWide Megatone based trumpet mouthpiece by TheTrumpetMouthpieceStore (TMPS). MEASURED DIMENSIONS Cup diameter 16.30 mm Measured on the 3D model, not on a printed part. The same figures are dimensioned on the cover image. Deep cup favors mid-low register with a dark and full orchestral tone. Medium rim bite offers balanced grip and flexibility. Extended cushion wide rim offers maximum lip contact surface for ultimate comfort and endurance. Great for deep orchestral playing and styles like Symphonic. Stylized outer body to get the most strength in 3D printers. More mouthpieces coming soon. DO NOT print upside down, rims are carefully designed to get the most comfort so print it with the rim facing up. EXTRA FILE - BUILD PLATE BASE (PRINT WITHOUT SUPPORTS) There is a second STL of the same mouthpiece with a wide, break-away base already modelled on the shank. Print that file and you do not need to add any supports in your slicer: just drop it on the plate and go. Why it is needed: the mouthpiece stands on the shank tip, which is a ring of about 30 mm2, while the widest layer near the rim is over 600 mm2. On a resin printer the FEP peel force pulls on that large layer and the small ring is what has to hold it. The base makes the footprint about twenty times bigger, so the part stays put without a single support. - The bore stays open all the way through, so the cup drains and no suction cup forms against the film - The rim of the pad is chamfered: slide a spatula under that edge and the pad lifts off the plate without pulling on the mouthpiece - The pad carries the mouthpiece on thin columns with rounded tips. They touch a 1.2 mm sacrificial collar, NOT the mouthpiece, so nothing marks the part itself - Twist the pad off or nip the columns, then trim the collar and sand the tip flat. The shank seats on its taper, not on its end face, so that last millimetre is not a fitting surface - The mouthpiece itself is identical in the two files Use the plain file if your printer holds the part without help, or if you print in FDM with a brim. --- SIMILAR COMMERCIAL MOUTHPIECES Bach 3C / Yamaha 7A4 / Parduba 6 / Schilke 11 Commercially available mouthpieces with a comparable cup diameter, listed so you can place this model among sizes you already know.
