Overview
WHERE GEN2 BEGAN
This is the design that started everything. In 2019 I printed a single storage drawer to organize supplies for a used Prusa MK2. In January 2020 I shared it here as the Lack Enclosure Drawer, and it went on to be downloaded thousands of times.
Seven years later, that one drawer has grown into the GEN2 Modular Storage System : rail-mounted cases, drawers that swap in seconds with QuickLock, covers, faceplates, wall mounts, and a free 3D planner to design it all. Backwards compatibility has been a GEN2 rule from day one, so the ideas in this original design still echo through every part of the current system.
This page stays up for everyone still running the original · files, instructions, everything. Nothing you printed is obsolete.

LOOKING FOR THE CURRENT VERSION?
The GEN2 Under Table Starter Kit is today's version of this exact idea · under-table storage that mounts to any table or desk (no Lack required), with drawers you can remove, rearrange, and swap in seconds instead of being permanently screwed in place.
Want to design your own layout first? The free GEN2 Planner lets you build it in 3D and gives you the exact print list: gen2planner.jerrari3d.com
STILL USING THE ORIGINAL? YOU'RE COVERED
The files and instructions below are unchanged from the original release, and they are staying. If you ever decide to move to GEN2 you will not be starting over · the system was designed so older prints keep their value, and the modern under-table kits replace this design one for one.
Is your print enclosure "lacking" storage? Well I have the solution for you! The Lack Enclosure Drawer unlocks the incredible enhancement of storage for your enclosure in a new and exciting way.
*Also works great as an addition to any workbench
Features:
• Seamless alignment for that oh-so-clean look.
• Lack Drawers also include optional slots for magnets (20x5x2mm) allowing drawers to snap into place with a nice "Click"
Print instructions
INTRO
These drawers can be configured in a number of ways. To simplify assembly the drawer cases are alphanumerically identifiable.
• R1 and R2 cases are design only for drawers on the right side end.
• In a stacked arrangement A1, A1-D, and R1 are all considered top row while A2, A2-D, and R2 are considered second row.
• Previous versions of the drawers are backwards compatible. They are considered either A1 or R1.
HARDWARE
• Screws: 3x12mm wood screw or #4 x 3/4 inch screws (Thanks AxioN)
• Screwdriver & Hex Bits (Optional print for a low profile screwdriver HERE (I highly recommend these long hex bits HERE
• M2x6 or M2x10 Screws and M2 nuts (Used for attaching rows of drawers together)
• Drill bit that is smaller diameter than the wood screws
• 20x5x2mm Magnets
• (Optional) Insert Mats and Dividers
INSTRUCTIONS
• Use printed templates to mark the hole locations on the surface you are mounting the drawer case to.
• Drill out marked locations
• Make sure optional magnets are installed into drawer case.
• Screw drawer case in place. (If you have trouble with this step try out the Slim Hex Screwdriver HERE and the long hex bits HERE
• Insert magnets into drawer and slide in place. (If the magnets are opposing rather than attracting you need to reinstall them facing the opposite direction.)
• If installing second row of drawers you will need to insert the M2 nuts into the hex slots on the A1, A1-D or R1 case. (Using a long M2 screw threaded into the hex to pull it in place is an easy way to do this.)
• Attach A2, A2-D or R2 cases to the above hex nuts using M2x6 screws
• For the A1-D case, if you are installing single drawers under it you will need to use the 2 hex slots in the middle under the tray. You may need to use M2 washers to limit how far the screw threads protrude up otherwise it will obstruct clearance for the drawer.
Filament: PLA (PETG or ABS for heavier duty storage)

Design Update 02/13/2021 | V3.0
• New optional stackable design (up to 2 rows)
• Double width drawer
• Improved screw hole for better print quality
• NO GLUE! Replaced magnet groves with slots made for 20x5x2 magnets
• Backwards compatible with previous versions
Design Update 02/08/2020
Modified "drawer-case":
• Added additional screw tabs to Drawer Case (This new design is compatible with older versions of the drawer case)
• Improved access for easier screw installation
Added "far-right-side-drawer-case" (Optional)
• Designed as the last drawer case used on the far right of your enclosure
• Covers gap on right side of drawer previously discovered when using the regular "Drawer Case" as the far right drawer.
• Screw hole relocated for easier installation around lack table leg.
Added "right-side-gap-filler" (Optional)
• For those who downloaded the older version of the "drawer case" and used it as the far right side drawer case, this small piece fills the gap between the drawer case and the lack enclosure leg.
Please feel free to use and modify and build on my design. Not required but if you do modify the design I'd greatly appreciate a shout out. Happy Printing!
